Community midwifery

Teams of midwives based in the local community provide antenatal and postnatal services from Health centres, GP surgeries, maternity units, children’s centres and at home. Home birth services are provided by the community teams on an on-call basis.

Community midwives work in partnership with other health professionals for example Health Visitors, Physiotherapists, Mental health services, Doulas, GPs, Social Workers, Children's centres.

There is also ongoing work to provide 'Continuity of Carer' where a small group of midwives will work with you throughout your pregnancy. Please click here for more information.
