Pregnancy journey
The HWHL-M Pilot Programme is a unique programme which has been funded for North and North East Lincolnshire for at least 2 years.
The programme will address gaps in existing pathways of support for pregnant women and birthing people and enable them to access support to effectively maintain a healthier weight both throughout and after their pregnancy.
The programme will provide holistic support around weight management, healthy eating, physical activity and wider lifestyle and wellbeing measures, utilising a whole family approach.
The HWHL-M pilot has been developed by:
This mix of professionals ensures an overall understanding of pregnancy and postpartum, core prevention and wellbeing and the needs within the area. The findings from this pilot programme will be shared widely across Humber and North Yorkshire.
After booking your appointment, your midwife will decide if you are eligible and happy to be referred to the service.
A HWHL-M wellbeing worker will contact you and if you decide to take part, you will develop a personal plan together that will detail the goals you want to achieve and the support required. This will include weight management, physical activity, community social opportunities and wider local wellbeing interventions.
HWHL-M aims to support you from your pregnancy booking appointment up until 12 weeks after the birth of your baby/babies.
After this time, if you still want support, you will be referred to local adult weight management/wellbeing services.
If you have any questions about this exciting new programme, please email Laura Caldicott at hny.lms@nhs.net.
