Services
Maternity services, including antenatal, delivery and postnatal care are delivered from York Hospital, Selby Hospital, Malton Hospital Scarborough Hospital, Whitby Hospital, Bridlington Hospital and in the community.
Most antenatal care is provided in the community by your named midwife. Screening for Downs Syndrome, a dating scan and triple test is offered to all women as early as possible in the pregnancy.
The New Selby War Memorial Hospital
Teams of midwives provide antenatal and postnatal services from the GP surgery, maternity units, and children’s centers and at home. Home birth services are provided by the community teams on an on call basis. Some members of the team come into the unit to maintain their professional skills (Should this read all). Opportunities are available for hospital-based midwives to undertake a rotational period to community if they so wish.
We provide an antenatal clinic and day unit at York Hospital, Scarborough Hospital,********* Antenatal ultrasound is part of this facility.
Malton ( alternate weeks) Bridlington (held twice weekly) provide antenatal consultant clinics screening, scanning are provided in both areas
An antenatal clinic is held every Monday at Selby War Memorial Hospital where antenatal scanning facilities and a screening service is also available.
If you are a first time mum ask your midwife about local antenatal classes which you can access from 28 pregnant.
Antenatal classes produced by our own staff are now available on our website for you, your family and friends to share at any time during your pregnancy. We hope they will answer many of your questions about your pregnancy and birth at York Hospital. Please remember your community midwife or staff in the maternity unit are always available if you have any concerns and need to speak to someone.
